Shotton Mill Proud to Support Shotton Walkers and Their Growing Community Impact
Shotton Mill is delighted to recognise and support Shotton Walkers, a volunteer-led community organisation that has become a powerful force for good across Shotton and the surrounding area.
As a business rooted in the local community, we believe successful businesses have an important role to play in celebrating organisations that improve lives, strengthen community connections and create opportunities for those who need them most. Shotton Walkers exemplifies these values through the remarkable work it delivers every year.
Founded in 2019, Shotton Walkers began with a simple but ambitious fundraising challenge when local resident undertook a 48-hour walk from Holyhead to Deeside. What started as a small group of friends supporting a worthy cause quickly evolved into a wider community organisation committed to helping others.
Today, Shotton Walkers brings together volunteers, local businesses and community supporters to raise funds, organise inclusive events and provide practical assistance to individuals and families across the area. Every member contributes their time voluntarily, ensuring that the organisation remains firmly focused on supporting the community and creating positive local impact.
Over the years, the group has delivered an impressive programme of activities, including major fundraising walks, annual Santa visits for local children, family fun days, community fundraising events, support for grassroots sports clubs and assistance for families experiencing hardship or unexpected crises.
A recent example of that community spirit was the Beryl Hodson Memorial Walk, held on 26 September. In honour of Beryl's memory, participants completed an impressive circular route from Hendy's to Chester and back again, covering more than 18 miles and 44,000 steps. The walk brought together people of all ages in a shared display of friendship, determination and community pride, while highlighting the important role Shotton Walkers plays in connecting local people through positive activities and charitable initiatives. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this fantastic achievement.
The impact of the group's work extends well beyond fundraising alone. By creating opportunities for people to come together, supporting mental and physical wellbeing, and responding directly to local needs, Shotton Walkers has helped build stronger community connections and a greater sense of belonging across the area. Their dedication, generosity and community spirit are inspiring, and the difference they make to local people deserves to be recognised.
On behalf of everyone at Shotton Mill, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers, organisers and supporters of Shotton Walkers for everything they do to strengthen our communities.
We wish the entire Shotton Walkers team every success in delivering their plans for 2027 and beyond, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of their work continue to grow.
