Shotton Mill Limited Connects with the Community at Connah’s Quay Festival

Shotton Mill Limited was proud to be part of this year’s Connah’s Quay Festival, held on Saturday 27 June 2026 in the beautiful surroundings of Wepre Park, marking the third year running that the company has supported and sponsored this important local event.

The festival provided a fantastic platform to engage with the local community and highlight the exciting future taking shape at the Shotton Mill site.

Representing the business on the day were Ben Vaughan and Liz Allen, who dedicated their time and energy to ensuring a welcoming and informative presence for visitors. Positioned at the company’s gazebo, they spent the morning meeting members of the community, sharing insights into the mill’s history, and discussing the wide range of career opportunities that are becoming available as the site develops.

Later in the day, Ben and Liz were joined by Felicia Andree, whose welcome support helped the team continue engaging with visitors throughout the busy afternoon. The event attracted a broad cross-section of the community, including people with past connections to Shotton Mill, current team members, and individuals interested in becoming part of its future. This blend of familiar faces and new conversations created a real sense of pride and momentum around the development of the site.

Visitors to the gazebo were keen to learn more about the transformation of Shotton Mill and the ambitions driving the business forward. Ben, Liz and Felicia were delighted to share updates, answer questions, and showcase how the mill is evolving into a modern, forward-looking operation that will play an important role in the local economy for years to come.

Of course, the day wasn’t without its challenges. With strong winds sweeping through Wepre Park, the gazebo faced a lively first outing. Setting it up and keeping it secure proved to be no small task, requiring teamwork, determination and a good sense of humour. Despite the conditions, the team ensured everything ran smoothly, successfully keeping the structure grounded and the atmosphere upbeat.

Their efforts paid off, with the event proving both successful and enjoyable. Reflecting on the experience, Liz commented,“It was a lovely day out with a great family atmosphere – really enjoyed it.” Shotton Mill Limited would like to thank Ben, Liz and Felicia for representing the company so positively throughout the day, and everyone who took the time to stop by, share their stories and learn more about the exciting journey ahead.

Supporting the Connah’s Quay Festival for three consecutive years reflects the company's ongoing commitment to the local community. We look forward to continuing to build these strong connections, creating opportunities for local people, and sharing the next chapter of the Shotton Mill story in the years to come.
