CBI Wales Women in Leadership Event Inspires Meaningful Discussion at Shotton Mill

Shotton Mill was proud to host the CBI Wales Women in Leadership event on 1 July 2026, bringing together an exceptional group of female leaders from across Wales to share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore the opportunities and challenges facing women in business today.

The event provided a valuable platform for influential women from a diverse range of industries to come together and discuss the role of leadership in driving business performance, shaping organisational culture, and creating workplaces where people and businesses can thrive.

Held at Shotton Mill's state-of-the-art facility, the event encouraged open and honest conversations about the evolving nature of leadership and the importance of ensuring that diverse voices are represented at every level of an organisation. Attendees shared personal experiences and professional insights, highlighting how strong leadership and inclusive cultures can help businesses navigate change, attract talent, and deliver sustainable long-term success.

Representing Shotton Mill, Jackie Pearson, Director of Corporate Affairs, reflected on the significance of the event and the calibre of leaders in attendance.

"It was an immense privilege to join this group of amazing female leaders – trailblazing in their fields and making a real difference to the profitability and culture of their organisations. The conversations throughout the event were both inspiring and insightful, reinforcing the importance of creating opportunities for women to lead, influence and shape the future of business."

The discussions also highlighted the growing body of evidence demonstrating the positive impact that gender diversity can have on organisational performance. Businesses with greater female representation in leadership positions often benefit from stronger decision-making, increased innovation, enhanced employee engagement, and more resilient workplace cultures. Diverse leadership teams bring a broader range of perspectives, enabling organisations to respond more effectively to complex challenges and changing market conditions.

Participants explored how leadership styles continue to evolve, with many successful female leaders embracing collaborative, transformational and people-centred approaches that foster trust, encourage innovation and create high-performing teams. These qualities are increasingly recognised as critical drivers of sustainable business success in today's fast-changing operating environment.

A particular highlight of the event was the contribution from Carole Green, acclaimed journalist and ITV Wales Business Correspondent. Drawing on her extensive experience and personal journey, Carole shared valuable insights into the progress that has been made in advancing women in business, while also highlighting the importance of continuing to challenge barriers and create opportunities for future generations of female leaders. Her engaging and thought-provoking perspective resonated strongly with attendees and helped stimulate meaningful discussion throughout the day.

The event also provided an important opportunity for networking and collaboration, enabling leaders to build new connections, share best practice and identify ways to collectively support greater diversity and inclusion across Welsh businesses. The willingness of attendees to openly share experiences and lessons learned created an atmosphere of encouragement, collaboration and mutual support.

Shotton Mill would like to extend its sincere thanks to Katie Spackman and the team at CBI Wales for organising such a successful and impactful event. We would also like to thank everyone who attended, both in person and online, for contributing to what was a highly engaging and inspiring discussion.

As businesses continue to focus on attracting, developing and retaining diverse talent, events such as the CBI Wales Women in Leadership forum play a vital role in fostering dialogue, sharing experiences and promoting positive change. Shotton Mill remains committed to supporting initiatives that encourage inclusive leadership, celebrate achievement and help create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working alongside business leaders across Wales to champion diversity, strengthen organisational cultures and support the next generation of women leaders.
